What is the best biography of Mozart? : classicalmusic ~ Agreed. Reading the Mozart letters is potentially a great substitute for a book-length biography. I'd read a short bio of Mozart (e.g. the one in the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians) and then move on to the letters.. The Solomon is the only one I've read, and it's pretty good, but it's largely just a book report on the letters combined with weird psychoanalysis and diluted Charles .
